A Huge Thank You to all who read “Brandy’s Bits” on StreetTalk Magazine and here on our Blog. I am glad to hear that it helps in more ways than one.  I especially want to thank our troops who serve our country both here and abroad.

I recently met a few of our soldiers who had served overseas and they shared with me some of their stories. They told me a little about themselves, how they felt lost and how they felt there was no reason for them to be in this world.  How they felt they had no reason to live.  But why?

They told stories of the women and children they encountered – women and children trained to kill. They talked about women and children who would kill them if they had a chance.  They spoke of the horrible memories that they have and what they went through while serving our country. They went through a lot and were having difficulties making sense of it all.

As civilians, many of us never stop to wonder what it’s like to be a soldier and fight for our country and our family.  We never stop to think how hard it must be to take another life while protecting your own. We never fathom the idea of fighting a war where women and children consider you the enemy.

Imagine being in a country where war is taking place and you are fighting for freedom, democracy and your own life while fighting against women and children who have been trained that you are the enemy.  Knowing that they want to take your life – it makes you wonder – do they really know what they are doing?  Why are they taught to kill? Who is doing the teaching and how do you counter that mentality?

What about our guys? As a soldier – they are taught to fight, protect themselves and their fellow troops.  But how do you prepare yourself to fight against an enemy that makes no sense? How do you prepare a young mind to fight women and children? How do you manage the feelings – after the fact?

The sad thing is that our soldiers have to do what is necessary to save their own lives.  They must make life and death decisions.  These decisions are difficult and these soldiers – our soldiers – are never the same when they return home.  They endure a mental anguish we never even consider.  And they have to do it alone – in their mind – they must make sense of madness and find joy in sadness. They must “Learn to Live Again!”  They must or they will lose hope and a reason for living.

They feel guilty; they think that they did wrong and they blame themselves.  Some consider suicide while others remove themselves from society.  And when I hear these stories, it breaks my heart!

To meet these young men and women back home who left with a heart full of life and now return empty and at a loss for life is difficult.  And I don’t know if this effect’s everyone the same way, but simply knowing that many suffer from depression, anxiety and fear is sad and overwhelming, for them and for me.

We all struggle, encounter sadness and suffer hardship in our lives and this must be extra difficult for our young soldiers. I find myself asking God how I can help my brothers and sisters in Christ to take the ugly thoughts and feelings from their mind and let them know that they are important to us in this world.

And this is why I write today.  Here is what I came up with to help these young men and women to “Learn to Live Again:”

1. First they must find a higher power – they must find God; then
2. Let go and Let God lead the way- it is difficult but not impossible;
3. Pray often and strengthen your faith through small victories – God is everywhere;
4. Forgive yourself and others – this will open the door to freedom;
5. Take a good look at yourself – see the beauty and love that God placed in your Heart;
6. Know that there is a reason for everything and a purpose to why things happen;
7. Work with others – This will get you out of your own head;
8. Count your blessings – God has blessed you with so much and yet;
9. God gives and He takes away – He has blessed you and also taken so much away from you, even your innocence;
10. Know that you are important to God and you have purpose here on earth;
11. You must find your purpose and this takes time; and
12. Trust God – All things work for good for those that trust in the Lord!

For those that are struggling: You have value!  You are the brave here in the “Land of the Free!” and we know that “Freedom isn’t Free!”  It costs much.  And we understand your pain.  We want you to be well!

These things remind me that God has planned more for us than we can ever imagine.  This is why I say: “I understand what you are going through and your life is important; and the respect I have for you is as pure as gold.”

As young men and women, you are beautiful people doing the best you can.  You endure more than people should, but you are soldiers. You are trained in warfare and must be ready for what comes. These stories are hard to hear and even harder to tell, I am sure.

But… like the song says “Reach out and touch somebody’s hand and make this a better place if we can!”

This is why I ask you to, and say to you – give life a chance, and now that you are home: “Learn to Live Again!” Learning to live again is the most powerful gift that you can bless us with.

Find a way to bring out the happiness in your heart and find the smile you once had.  It has never left you, and it is still there waiting to come out and live again!

I want to finish by saying we support all of the men and women in the military. To all our troops I want to say that I am very proud of you; I respect you and I “Thank You” for serving our country.  Whatever you encountered – whatever you did – remember it is not your fault!  You – as an American soldier, and a person who loves their country – were only doing your job.

God Bless You, God loves you and I love you. You are soldiers, you are brave, and you are heroes!

Happy New Year everyone! May your dreams and endeavors come true in 2012 – may you be prosperous and may Father God find favor on you.  It is a time of New Beginnings!

But first, I want to thank you all for your prayers last year as my family and I went through a difficult time in our life.  We almost lost our daughter Diamond due to illness. God answered our prayers – she is doing better!

2011 was tough for many of us with financial setbacks, health problems, and other personal issues.  But remember, God is always with us – no matter what.  In fact, He opened my eyes to a New Beginning of real success!

So I have decided not to make a New Year resolution.  Many of us make them yet never keep them.  And yes, I am guilty!  So I won’t make a resolution for 2012.

Instead, I will continue with what God has blessed me with as he prepared me for the New Year!  God showed me that He has great plans for Latin Fusion Tv by opening wonderful opportunities.

So If you ask what I want to do and how I plan to do it, my answer is this: “I don’t have the answer, but I will “Trust in God and Walk by Faith! I will pray for patience, faith and support!”  I must open my heart and soul and listen when being assured and told the truth.

I have to realize that no matter what I think or feel I should not fear or be insecure. I helped create Tejano Classic TV, then gave it a new name and created Latin Fusion TV – but I did not make it happen on my own.  I had help.  God helped me create and build my dreams.

But, you see, we sometimes let the enemy take over.  He sneaks up on us when we are weak. I know because it happened to me in 2011.  It was not a good year for me.  And as the fears got deeper, I became weaker and allowed doubt to enter my life.

I felt lost like I was going in many different directions with no direction for myself or my show.  The reason is it is sometimes hard for me to trust.  You may understand.  You give your time, share it with a kind heart and when you least expect it – a bomb hits.

My fear is that I would give it my all, make it happen and somewhere down the road - along with everything else that I love and care about – it would vanish.

I have been told many times that that’s life and that we must keep going, but it is still enough to scare anyone as it scared me. But I have to remember Psalms 118:6 “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

I have realized that I can be my own worst enemy when I think crazy thoughts.  I have to remember that I am just me – I am a person who can make a difference IF I Trust God and not my own thoughts.

2012 will be different and with the “Eye of the Tiger,” I plan to shine and work hard for our business. I hope you do the same – no one can take that away.

I promise not to take things, or people, for granted.  I will set goals, make them happen and make a difference!  I will not doubt! I will make it “my priority!”

I support you in your endeavors and ask that you please continue to support me.  I hope you learn from my mistakes and never give up on God’s blessings to you.

Remember to hold on to each other and never let go.  Continue to smile even if it’s hard, it’s still there.  The enemy will try to discourage you – but don’t give up.  Do not doubt!

Finally, Thank You Michael Arellano and Independent Functions.  You have taught me that “You can get what you want IF you help others get what they need!”  “The Power of  IF” says that IF you believe – it can be!  “IF” is a big reason that LFTV is where it is today.  I appreciate your support and confidence.

I may not have all the answers, or the logistics, but I will know when God puts them in my sight.  LFTV will succeed as we are looking at the bigger picture.  God has put that in my heart!  What has he put in your heart?

So I say again: Happy New Year!  Make a resolution to follow your heart!

My this year be a prosperous year for you and all your endeavors and your Dreams.

This year I have decided not to make a New Years resolution, but to actually move forward with what God has Blessed me with.

I want to thank each and everyone of you for all your prayers this last year as my family and I went through the most difficult time in our life, when we almost lost our Daughter Diamond during Thanksgiving.  If you do not know about this – she was on 100% life support and not expected to make it through Thanksgiving!

When asked who would make the final decision – if need be – I knew in my heart that it would not be me – it would be Jesus Christ.

As I stepped outside of the ER that evening to pray, I saw the the Twinkle in the Sky that brought back a beautiful sweet memory of my Princess Diamond when she was two years old.  She and I would sing” Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!”   Her favorite phrase was “Like a Diamond in The Sky” and she would say I am looking at you!

It was at that moment that God was saying: “I am looking over her as I am healing her back to life!”

Today, I am happy to say that after three weeks in the hospital and on Life support, our daughter is walking, talking and eating like you wouldn’t believe – and we love it!

But, we have to extend our Thanks to all of you for all your support and Love.

We should never take those that we love for Granted or say something that we may never be able to take back – especially if  God chooses to take them from us at any given moment!  When you invite someone into your own life treat them like they matter, like they are family!  That is one thing that I was raised and taught and I plan to have my children do the same. We may not always be perfect in each others eyes , but we definitely are in Gods eyes.

We have been Blessed with three beautiful children that are all grown up today, but to dad and myself they will always be our babies.

They each have a twinkle in the Sky that is as bright as a star and shines like a Diamond.

When you look at your loved ones Imagine that and give thanks to Jesus Christ for all the Blessings he has given you when it comes to Family and Friends.

This New Year I have no new years resolution as for many years everyone seems to make them yet there are those of us who never keep them, yes I am guilty!

The Blessings that God has given me this past year as he prepared me for the New Year!  I promise not to take for Granted  but to make it a priority, “my Priority!”.

I will reach for that Twinkle in The Sky, set my Goals and make them reality.  If you ask what is it that you want to do and how do you plan to do it, my answer is this: “I don’t have that answer, therefore I will not answer, but I can only trust in God and Walk with Faith! If you believe in me like you say you do then I pray for your patience, your faith and your support!”

This I can say: God has answered great prayers this  past year and one was healing my daughter and He has opened my vision to a New Beginning of real success!

I am sure 2011 was a tough year for a lot of us,  some of us had to deal with financial set backs, Health problems, and I am sure other personal issues.

This I will say why not join forces and make a real difference in our lives and set goals and make them happen.

I support you with all your Goals and Endeavors for the New Year  and ask that you please continue to support me.

I may have created  Tejano Classic TV and gave it a new name LFTV but I did not make it happen on my own.

After going thru so many obstacles I have to  say thank You  to Independent Functions who is the strong power and mind behind  LFTV and it’s website are today.

That is the power of  “If” as it’s slogan says I can’t get what I want unless I help others get what they need.

This is proven to be very true and I am very grateful although I may not show it I know what my Heart feels.

Thank You Michael Arellano for your real believes in what a dream or  goal can really become reality.

You are that Twinkle in the Sky!

I am sorry for my actions and for saying I am just me.

I am not just me I am a person, who can make a difference if I just let thinks be..

I hope that those of you reading my article will learn by may mistakes and never give up  on what God has blessed you with.

2012 will bring out the the Eye of the Tiger that will add that twinkle in my eyes and if I plan to shine and work hard  for our business I hope you do the same.

Nothing or no one can ever take that away.

Happy New Year my dear friends and remember to hold on to each other and never let go that is just what the enemy wants as I have heard this many times.

Continue to smile like you have always done even if there was a time you felt it was gone, it has always been there, the enemy just tried to take control and today I found my smile again.

Most people are already using a cloud company service without even realizing it every time they access pictures or music that they have saved on a remote server. There are many companies that are being started to provide this service, but there are also many well-known companies like Google, Amazon and Apple that are branching out to offer cloud services to businesses and individuals alike. There are many benefits of using cloud computing and a few drawbacks that must be considered.

The flexibility and cost savings are usually considered the largest advantages of utilizing the cloud. By storing applications and data remotely, people are able to access them from any location. Data storage and server costs can also be significantly reduced. Paying a monthly fee is a much smaller cost than purchasing and maintaining the storage drives that even a small business would need. Many business owners also use the cloud as part of their disaster recovery plan. By having all data and computer programs stored in the cloud, it is safe from any disasters like floods or fire at the physical business site.

The number one concern about using this type of computing is the safety of the data being stored. Many people are rightly concerned about making sure that their information is safe from any hackers or other computer criminals. Fortunately, most services have numerous data safeguards in place to prevent any unauthorized access. When looking for a cloud service, one should inquire and understand the precautions that are taken to protect their information.

If sultry, sensual Latina women are more your style, then there are definitely some fresh and beautiful new faces to watch for in this year’s television lineup. While she has no plans to grace a calendar anytime soon, Ana de la Reguera is certainly attracting attention in her role as Vida on HBO’s Eastbound & Down. Ana plays a single mother who, for good reason, has caught the eye of Kenny Powers, played by Danny McBride. Not to be outdone, Showtime has brought in April Hernandez to play a hot new role on hit show Dexter.  April stars as Cira, a tough talking cop.

Don’t forget, either, the old favorites still gracing your television screen. Jennifer Lopez continues her stint as a judge on American Idol this season, and Sofia Vergara will keep on shining in her hilarious Modern Family role. Yes, if Latina super stars are just your style, then you need to keep the television turned on and your eyes peeled this season. They will be gracing all the top television series around, and adding that special Latin sizzle that heats up television like nothing else.

Last month we wrote about Running the Race, not giving up and understanding that things happen for a reason.  How people and circumstances, like the seasons of the year, come and go and it is all in God’s time!  Therefore, we must have faith and be committed to do what is right.

It means we must commit to Finish Well!

When we discuss finishing well, we are not talking about winning the race, but about finishing strong – doing the best you can and making sure that you commit to finish – and do what is right, good and helpful.

Finishing well is important because life is a journey! It can be a long and tough road.  People remember us more for what we do rather than for who we are.  This can be hard but you can finish well.  The chapter of your life is still being written.  Write it well!

It’s the same for us, it is the same with business, things might be tough – but do not give up. And if things are going well, then be generous, help out, give back.

It is the Holidays and there will be a lot of activities going on.  It should be a reminder of how grateful we should be, and how much we can help those less fortunate than us.  How we can make a difference.

It is easy to look at how little we may have or what we are missing in our life, but let’s not. Let’s finish the year well by helping others.  The best way is to volunteer and donate.  You can help us!

On Friday, December 9^th, I will host my 6th Annual Star Gala, or “Una Noche con Las Estrellas,” at the Fountain Bleu Banquet Hall.  The event will be from 7 to midnight.  But this is not an ordinary gala, we have partnered with our dear friend, Rocky “Shuffle” Hernandez, of the award winning OBG Band and we will have a dance and special guests.  We will collect toys to be delivered over the holidays and we will bring in local celebrities and stars to party with us.

We will collect toys for Rocky’s Kids and Brandy’s Toy Box.  Toys will be delivered to Bexar County Sheriff, Christus Santa Rosa Children’s Hospital, Santa’s Cruisers and other organizations.  Many will be volunteering their time and resources and we will be doing a good thing for Families in Need.   I invite you to join us.

This month is Veteran’s Day – We salute all of our veterans and support our troops!

On Friday, November 11, the JW Marriott is hosting a big Veterans Day bash.  Also, they are honoring teachers, firefighters, police officers and government employees with a discounted room rate – check out our website for details.

On Saturday, November 12 is the United States Military Veterans Parade, it is one of the largest veteran’s day parades in the United States.  Remember, Freedom isn’t Free and this is just one way we can honor our veterans – We hope to see you there.

Holliday, a San Antonio native, returns home to showcase his unique talents and abilities to raise awareness for the Fisher House and Air Force Security Forces Foundation.  He was scheduled to play on Friday for a private benefit concert but the show was canceled at the last minute and Holliday has decided to play for the public.

Holliday performs Contemporary, Latin and Smooth Jazz with his custom made trumpet, Excalibur, manufactured by Marcinkiewicz Co., Inc.  Additionally, Holliday sings and plays the saxophone, which in the world of horns, can be seen something as a dichotomy.

Holliday has performed his unique style for 4-Star generals, ambassadors, military brass and civilians in 14 countries and 44 states, including performing Taps for the Mobile Memorial r Vietnam Veterans.  Holliday will perform at NASCAR next month.

Celebrating the release of his latest cd, “Into the Night,” Holiday will play many of these tunes along with original jazz and Holliday fan favorites.  The cd will be available for sale and a portion of the proceeds go to the Fisher House.

The show, co-produced by Independent Functions, LFTv’s management company, and Holliday Entertainment, is to show how individuals can create functions that make a difference within the community.

Now that fall is upon us, we welcome the cooler weather and we pray for more rain here in San Antonio.

This month, my thoughts are on “Winning the Race” before us.

First of all, let me say that every day is a race, and if you make through the day – you have won the race for the day.  It starts in the morning and as we work to complete our tasks, we run the race daily.

But as life gets challenging for me, I often wonder if I am even winning the race that I am running.  I ask myself: Will I win the race? Will I get lucky today?

Then I realize something that has taken me years to learn.  I have learned that winning has nothing to do with luck – it is about Belief, Commitment and Faith.

We must believe in our God-given talents; have a firm Commitment to continue regardless of the outcome; and be able to face the our daily challenges with the Faith that “All things work for good for those that Trust in the Lord!”

But, it is also about preparing for the daily trials and triumphs, understanding that things that happen to us happen for a reason.  It is in knowing that people and circumstances, like the seasons of the year, come and go. But as long as we are here on earth – we can make a difference.

But how do we do it?  Here is a list to help us out:

• Thank God for our blessings – Trials and Triumphs belong to God;
• Never give up – We always have a chance as long as we are in the race;
• Give yourself credit for the little things you accomplish – small accomplishments by days end are races you have won;
• Walk with your head held high, regardless of your circumstances – Always;
• Support one another – we are all in the race together and it is easier than doing it alone;
• Know that every difficult day ends with the hope of a brighter tomorrow.

Many of us look at our own race through our own eyes and they seem both difficult and unique.  But the challenges we deal with every day usually include losing someone or something and/or having to give up something or someone we love.

This is what I am going through right now.  These are some of the saddest and hardest days of my life.  It is tough for me.  But these challenges are not unique to me or to you.  They are still hard, though.

It is in times like these, that I ask the questions: Will I ever finish the race? Or, can this race be won?

However, I do know that it is all in God’s time and that no matter how fast we go, we are not getting anywhere until the timing is right.  And no matter how fast we try to run on your own – the only thing that happens is that we end up running out of breath.  So what do we do?

We have to pray for the patience to rely on God’s timing.  I ask you pray for me and I will pray for you!

We must remember that God would not bring us to it if He could not get us through it.  We also have to remember that the race is a journey, not a destination, and it is run best together, united in our journey.

And finally, as long as we make it through today, there is hope for a brighter tomorrow!

That is why I say to “Walk by Faith and Not by Sight,” because it is in the darkness that we find the Light of God.  Which means that by running the race we may be winning the race!  So Keep Running!

Have a Safe and Happy Halloween!  With Love – Brandy Lopez

I will also celebrate my grandfather’s life, his death and the freedom from the pain he suffered here on earth!  He went to be with my grandmother Olivia and Father God yesterday. Each of these events, although tragic in their basic nature, are reasons to celebrate.  Freedom is not free and death is final, but both are the beginning of a better life.  And celebrate, we should!

But what does all of this have to do with “Powerful Prayer?”  And is there such a thing as “Powerful Prayer?”

I have struggled with this.  To me, All prayer is powerful,  but today – I see – or should I – “say” things differently.

Recent events have thrust me in a position to dig deep into my faith. My best friends mother in law passed, my grandfather passed and my work is not as economically fruitful as it can be.  Each of these have led me to seek a better understanding of what I have to do in God’s world, and lean not on my own understanding.

Much has changed in such a short period of time. A week ago, both were alive.  Both passed and it was been very hard on everyone.  This fact alone, has changed what I think about the words: Powerful Prayer.

All prayer is powerful, but it adds more to the recipients and the those in need when they hear the term.  God listens to all prayer, and answers them His way – not our way.  This is a hard concept to understand for most, especially in times of crisis or tragedy.

We should always learn to look to God, in good times, tough times and hard times.  We should pray and petition for understanding and learn to lean on the promises of God.  If you do not know what they are – here is a great one: “I will not leave you nor forsake you!”

Freedom is not free, life is not guaranteed and time is short! Celebrate the freedoms bestowed upon you in this great nation, celebrate the love of family in life and celebrate death knowing there is someplace better for us in the afterlife, a place without pain and suffering.  God is with you, no matter what!

So go to God with Powerful Prayer, asking for understanding and know that “All things work for good for those that trust in the Lord!”

Don’t believe me – ask our forefathers – they based their belief in a new nation, our independence and freedom on Christian Principles and we are still one of the greatest nations in the world!

And I am proud to be an American, proud to have known my grandfather and proud to be called friend – none of which would be possible without “Freedom, Death and Powerful Prayer!”

If you can keep your mind about you when all around are losing theirs…(See “IF” by Rudyard Kipling)

I want to discuss the Power of IF and how it relates.  IF I had my way, IF they would just listen, if, if, if… Sounds negative doesn’t it.  But what IF it isn’t. What IF we all began to work together, what IF we decided greed was not the answer, and what if we all dreamed and worked to fulfill our dreams.  Putting personal gain at an others expense aside?  Then what…

Life would get better quicker for all of us.  IF is a powerful term – it represents hope and faith – but it also represents the desire to achieve.  But it takes work – IF requires, no demands, that I take action. If i did nothing then nothing would happen – but IF I decided to work just a little harder, then a little something might come my way.

If you sit around and wait for something to happen then something may or may not happen.  We are required to go out and get what we want – no one will do it for you and I.  We are to put our life together and achieve IF we want to be successful.  But how we do measure success.  IF I measure by someone elses standards then I will always be chasing someones else’s dreams.  I am to set my own standards and be sure that they adhere to proper codes of conduct.

You and I are fortunate – IF you have a computer or can read this post – then we are further ahead than a great many of the population in the world.  There is still a lot of poverty and illiteracy in the world.  But we can make a difference.

That is what IF is all about…Making a D IF FERENCE…. and we can by doing these simple things:

1. Think more of others;
2. Think of self less;
3. Give;
4. Pray;
5. Have Faith in something greater than yourself;
6. Believe in God;
7. Believe in self;
8. Act with dignity;
9. Respect others;
10. Do not judge

IF you follow these simple guidelines, then you will have a more fulfilling life!

Not because you have done for yourself, but because you have become other centered and think not less of self but of self less!  This is a manner of living in which I choose to live but struggle daily.  But it will still make a difference in the world – in fact, you and I will begin to make a difference and the word will begin to change.

And IF I do not give up and continue to pursue my dreams and goals – just maybe – I will become the man that I am supposed to be and the person that God made me to be.  IF I just do my best and do not take things personal and use my words wisely and to heal and not to kill, then maybe, just maybe – I will understand the POWER of IF!
